Daetrix’s journey is a masterclass in South-Side Chicago grit and creative evolution. It all began in 1998 when he, then known as Dae Dae The Ologist, teamed up with Zar Radius to form the Illa Gilla Team. The duo became a staple of the city’s underground scene, legendary for "storming" open mics and commanding stages across Chicago with raw lyrical energy.
By 2002, ILLA GILAL solidified their presence with the release of his debut solo album, The First Slice.
They followed this with a string of solo releases and high-profile features on cult-classic mixtapes like Shop Talk and Danger Zone, while also lending their talents to film soundtracks.
